What to Expect in the Role:
You will provide urban design advice to support the delivery of high-quality development across the District, from pre-application to post-application stages, and assist in updating design policies and guidance to enhance the local environment.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details):
• To provide specialist technical advice and guidance in respect of urban design on pre-application enquiries, planning submissions and post-application matters.
• To attend meetings, including Planning Committee, in order to provide specialist advice in respect of Urban Design matters, where required.
• To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to secure the design objectives of the local planning authority.
• To provide advice to the Planning Policy Team in the development of District wide policy, supplementary planning documents, site specific planning briefs, character appraisals and other planning and design guidance in liaison with other sections, services and, where appropriate, external organisations.
What You’ll Need (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): - Experience of effective stakeholder engagement and/or providing detailed advice to members, officers, developers and the public on placemaking and urban design.
- Able to demonstrate effective outcomes based on working with Customers.
- Sound knowledge of current planning and urban design policy, legislation and good practice.
- Good organisational and research skills, including knowledge of project management techniques.
- Effective communication skills, graphically, written and verbal.
