What to Expect in the Role:
The Planning Enforcement team is a busy team receiving around 600 enforcement cases a year. This is a key role in providing a professional planning input on enforcement cases, in terms of advising the Enforcement Officers on the expediency of enforcement action, engaging with Councillors and progressing cases to formal action.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details):
- Regular case reviews and mentoring of allocated Enforcement Officer
- Providing advice on expediency of enforcement action for cases of Enforcement Officer
- Supported by Planning Manager be responsible for drafting decision reports and formal notices
- To prepare written evidence and act as Council’s witness in any legal proceedings
- To prepare appeal statements and prepare claims or responses to costs applications
What You’ll Need (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details):
- Batchelors or Masters degree in Planning or equivalent providing eligibility for application for full Chartered RTPI Membership, or Full Chartered Membership of RTPI or provide evidence that have sufficient post qualification experience and actively working towards full RTPI Chartered membership
- Experience of working in planning or enforcement team, including working on enforcement cases
- Experience of mentoring or advising other officers within a planning or enforcement environment
- Experience of enforcement or planning related appeals
- Experience of preparing formal reports
- Effective negotiations skills
