Are you ready to lead a high-impact service that transforms the lives of children with disabilities?
We are looking for an experienced Children’s Services leader to take on the dual role of Service Manager – Children with Disabilities & Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO). You will be pivotal in shaping of SEND and disabilities service within Family Help as part of the reforms. You will ensure effective multi-agency collaboration, drive service improvement, and advocate for the best outcomes for children and young people with disabilities.
About the Role:
As Service Manager, you will oversee and have lead responsibility of a dedicated team of social workers and family support practitioners, ensuring high-quality support and outcomes for our children & families, safeguarding, and direct interventions for children with complex needs.
As Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO), you will act as the key link between children’s social care and SEND services, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and contributing to the development of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will also have strategic lead for developing and embedding SEND Family Help.
The Post Holder’s Responsibilities Will Include:
- Oversee the Children with Disabilities Team, ensuring high standards of care and safeguarding.
- Lead multi-agency collaboration, working closely with health, education, and voluntary sector partners.
- Act as the strategic link between Sandwell Children’s Trust, Health, Education and the Local Authority to develop and drive SEND services, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Develop and embed SEND within Family Help as part of the National reforms, working closing with partners across Education, Health and Adult’s Social Care.
- Provide expert guidance on social care involvement in SEND reforms.
- Contribute to strategic planning within Sandwell’s SEND Partnership, ensuring children with disabilities and their families have access to holistic services.
You will need to have:-
- Be Social Work Qualified and registered with Social Work England; and willingness and ability to obtain and/or enhance qualifications and training for development in this post
- Proven leadership experience in children’s services.
- Expertise in SEND frameworks, EHCPs, and multi-agency working.
- Strong ability to influence policy, drive service improvement, and develop strategic solutions.
- Expertise in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and the role of social care within SEND support
- Have extensive experience in multi-agency and partnership working and the development of a service.
- Knowledge of Family Help models and National SEND Reforms.
