Unqualified Teacher for SEND Hub provision
Full time – permanent contract
Start date: September 2025 (subject to satisfactory clearance checks)

St John’s is a mainstream school and serves the community of Sparkhill. All are welcome at our school; we believe that every child deserves a learning experience that allows them to flourish and thrive. We have a strong inclusion policy, but acknowledge that some of our children may need additional support and so currently have two enhanced learning provision hubs within our school. We are looking to appoint an unqualified teacher to work in our ‘Sparkler’s hub’.
What does the role look like?
- Working as a member of the SEND team, to lead the provision in the Sparkler’s hub.
- Planning a fully specialised curriculum to support the learning and progress of all students who have barriers to learning within the SEND framework, particularly those with ASD and Communication Difficulties.
- Assessing progress to make sure each child is on an appropriate pathway.
- Communicating with parents regularly to build good relationships and inform them of progress.
- Working in a designated hub classroom, with a class of up to 6 children and a team of 3 to 4 adults.

- 10% of teaching time allocated to Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) plus an additional 10% for career development or training. (This amounts to one day a week non-contact time).
- Advice from outside agencies: CAT, Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, Behaviour support. Educational Psychologist and support from the SEND team to implement strategies.
- Investment in quality CPD - the school supports staff who wish to gain further qualifications and experience. In this role, training would also include relevant SEND approaches and interventions e.g. PECS, Little Wandle phonics, Team Teach etc
