The Role:
We are a friendly team supporting learners with a sensory impairment in mainstream settings across the county. This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Specialist Teaching Assistant working with children and young people (CYP) with a vision impairment (VI) or multisensory impairment (MSI) in their educational settings. You will be working with Specialist Qualified Teachers for VI / MSI, a Habilitation Specialist, and Specialist VI Practitioners, as well as school based staff.
We are seeking to appoint 2 Specialist Teaching Assistants with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to support CYP including those with complex needs, aged 0-25, on a one to one basis in a range of settings, enabling them to access learning. Confidence to advocate for their needs and the ability to travel across the county is essential. You will have experience of working with CYP in education, meeting targeted outcomes and a willingness to gain a Braille qualification if not already held. All training will be provided and you will have access to a range of development opportunities and support within our team.
Role 1: Initially supporting at a high school with an opportunity to work with MSI children one day per week
Role 2: Supporting in a range of settings according to need, across Worcestershire
Both positions will be flexible according to CYP needs, meaning you are likely to move between settings over time, developing skills and relationships with CYP with VI and MSI over the long term. These TA roles are like no other and offer the opportunity to become a highly skilled specialist in the VI/MSI field.
