About the Opportunity

Join HMRC as a Policy Apprentice (Level 4) and kickstart a purposeful career influencing decisions that impact millions. No prior experience in policy is needed—just curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to learn.

You’ll:

Work full-time on a permanent contract while completing an 18-month Policy Officer Apprenticeship.
Earn £29,475–£36,461 depending on location, plus a generous Civil Service pension.
Spend 80% of your time in-role and 20% on structured learning.
Gain a nationally recognised qualification and build a strong foundation for a long-term policy career.
Receive support from mentors, managers, and training providers as you contribute to real-world policy projects.

What We’re Looking For

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisation and attention to detail
Ability to manage time and work independently
Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Collaborative mindset and a desire to learn
Not currently in full-time education or already holding a degree in politics/public policy
GCSEs Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent)
