About the Opportunity

The Radio 1 Dance: Where It Begins scheme is an 8-week paid placement offering aspiring creatives the chance to work hands-on with production teams behind some of the UK’s most exciting dance shows. You’ll collaborate on content creation, contribute ideas, attend a training week in London, and receive one-to-one mentoring to support your development. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in music radio from behind the scenes and kick-start your media career.

What We’re Looking For

Passion for dance music, radio, and digital culture
Creativity, originality, and a proactive mindset
Awareness of trends and how to connect with audiences
No formal qualifications or prior experience needed
Must be 18+, eligible to work in the UK, and available for the full 8-week placement
Not open to those with previous paid BBC experience
This is a production-focused role (not for aspiring presenters or DJs)
