About the Opportunity

This is a paid, permanent training role to become a qualified Probation Officer through the fully funded Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP) programme. You’ll work directly with offenders in the community and in custody—supporting rehabilitation, reducing reoffending, and protecting the public—while earning a starting salary of £26,475.

The programme combines practical work with academic study (15–27 months depending on your current qualifications). On completion, you’ll progress to a qualified Probation Officer role with a salary from £35,130. You’ll gain professional skills in risk management, offender support, and decision-making, supported by mentoring, study time, and flexible working arrangements.

What We’re Looking For

Level 3 qualification (A Level, Advanced Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3) or higher
Empathy, resilience, and the ability to work with people from complex backgrounds
Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Willingness to balance full-time work with academic study
Ability to pass security vetting and pre-employment checks
Commitment to upholding high standards of integrity and professionalism
