About the Opportunity

This permanent Policy Officer role offers a rare opportunity to join a pioneering team focused on developing the UK's carbon capture and storage (CCS) infrastructure — a key part of the nation's Net Zero strategy. You’ll help shape vital energy policy, working on regulatory design, stakeholder engagement, and infrastructure development. Expect excellent professional development, exposure to high-impact projects, and the chance to build expertise in one of the most innovative areas of the energy sector. Ofgem offers hybrid and flexible working, a highly competitive Civil Service pension, and 30 days annual leave after two years.

What We’re Looking For

Experience or academic background in CCS, oil & gas, or a relevant technical/engineering discipline
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex evidence
Excellent written and verbal communication
Organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
(Desirable) Understanding of economic regulation, particularly RAB model
(Desirable) Familiarity with CCS technologies and infrastructure
