Haymarket Automotive publishes a range of magazines and websites based mainly on the What Car?, Autocar, Move Electric and Classic & Sports Car brands. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the wider team to assist all the brands in multiple ways in editorial.
Tasks for this role involve three key activities:
1. Assisting colleagues with all facets of feature story production, including creation of stories and assembling and editing of photos and video content.
2. The editing and publishing of stories from freelance sources.
3. The creation and publishing of new original content. In line with our recent successful expansion into German-speaking markets, this role is specifically designed to assist in this expansion.
This activity primarily involves Autocar, but may also involve work with other titles such as What Car?, Classic & Sports Car and Move Electric.
Alongside your work with us, you will be enrolled in a journalism apprenticeship training course lasting around 18 months. You will learn how to become a fully-trained journalist - and be paid to do so. Many of our apprentices go onto successful careers with us after they finish the course.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day running of our websites
- Publishing of externally produced content
- Generation of feature articles and photo galleries on a wide variety of automotive subjects
- Responding to news events, with speed and accuracy
- Track performance and optimise accordingly
- Generate German language content tailored for audiences in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria
- Interest in the automotive subject (desirable but not obligatory)
- Enthusiasm for using technology and learning new technology tools
- Creative thinker, self-starter and problem solver
- Personal and professional integrity
- Fluency in both English and German. Knowledge of an other European language would be useful but not obligatory.
- Please note that the ability to speak German is required for this role. Job Interviews for this role will take place in German.
